Travis Kelce "advances" NFL game in São Paulo and complains about the "heat in Brazil"

Travis Kelce "advances" NFL game in São Paulo and complains about the "heat in Brazil"

The 2025 NFL season is already starting in hot weather - literally, according to Travis Kelce. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end "broke" the league's official announcement and confirmed, during the "New Heights" podcast, that the team will face the Los Angeles Charges on September 5, at Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo.

Soon after the interview, the information was made official by the NFL, but Kelce didn't wait for the schedule and let it slip. "We're definitely going to play in Brazil. I'll be there, but not to do a podcast. I'm going to play American football in the f**king heat," he said in a good-natured tone, alongside his brother Jason Kelce, with whom he shares the show's presentation.

Despite concerns about the heat and humidity, the player may be getting ahead of himself. The game will be played during the Brazilian winter, when temperatures in São Paulo usually range between 15ºC and 27ºC - much milder than those in Kansas City during the same period, which reach 29ºC. Even so, Kelce has already warned that he will come prepared: "If it's hot and humid, I'll ask for three pairs of pants, four pairs of boots, several shirts."

In addition to the weather, the Neo Química Arena pitch was also a topic of discussion on the podcast. Jason Kelce criticized the condition of the pitch during the first edition of the São Paulo Game, in 2024, when the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers 34-29. "The pitch was terrible last year. Everyone was slipping. I hope they improve that," he complained. Travis avoided going into more detail, but grimaced when he remembered the situation.

This will be the second time that the NFL has held an official game in Brazil. The event is part of the league's internationalization strategy, which sees South America - especially Brazil - as a market with high growth potential.

With or without heat, the Chiefs and the Charges already have a meeting scheduled with Brazilian fans. And Travis Kelce, between jokes and complaints, promises to be on the field.
